Mr. Lanier W. Burdette, 68, of Plantation Road, Elberton, husband of 12 years to Peggy Thornton Paramore Burdette, finished his course in faith on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at his residence.

Lanier was born in Elberton on March 27, 1950, son of Jesse W. Burdette and the late Jeanette Brown Burdette. He was a graduate of Elbert County High School and Athens Technical College, and served his country in the Army National Guard. He was a machinist by trade having worked at Monroe Automotive and retired from Engineering and Cycle Company, and was a Bus Driver for Elbert County School System. Lanier was a lifelong member of Harmony Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Song Leader for 40+ years. He was also a member of Philomathea Masonic Lodge # 25. “Pop”, as he was known to his grandkids, loved music, working in his yard, and hunting.

Survivors in addition to his wife and father of Elberton include children: Stephanie Bryant of Elberton and Sean Burdette of Hartwell; step-children: Paul and Cindy Paramore and Carrie and Kevin McCannon, all of Elberton; grandchildren: Alexandria Burdette, Olivia Paramore, and Rachel McCannon; siblings: Donald and Joan Burdette, Linda Burdette and Bubba Davis, Ralph Burdette, and Roger and Beth Burdette, all of Elberton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, December 8, at 2 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. Lynn Kellum and Paul Paramore officiating. Burial will be in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Friday evening.
