Mr. Joseph Barron Hendrix, age 83 of Royston Highway in Canon, Ga., passed away peacefully on Friday, August 9, 2024 following a brief illness.
He was born August 16, 1940 in Royston, Ga. Barron was employed in the grocery business as a meat cutter. He loved gardening, tinkering and cooking. He was a member of Goldmine Church of God and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Left to cherish his memories are: his wife of 47 years, Alice Blackwell Hendrix, children, Don Hendrix, Angela Morrison, Belinda (B.J.) Alexander, Larry Phillips and Betty Isbell, sister, Brenda Swafford along with a number grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Elton Cromer Hendrix, daughter, Becky Starrett and brothers, Jimmy and Kenneth Hendrix.
Funeral services honoring the life of Joseph Barron Hendrix will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Two o'clock at the Goldmine Church of God with Rev. Phillip Patterson officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 109.
Private burial will be at Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends from 1-2 p.m. at the church just prior to the service.
Services have been entrusted to Coile and Hall Funeral Directors, 333 E. Johnson Street in Hartwell.
