Gilda Rose Nepa Cleaver of Hartwell, Georgia passed away peacefully but suddenly from natural causes on Saturday, September 4, 2021 in her home in Hartwell.
Gilda was born on July 28, 1946 in Wellsburg, WV to Alphonse and Gilda Rose (Romagnoli) Nepa. She graduated From Brooke High School and then moved To Alexandria, VA, before settling in Virginia Beach, VA. She was married to Howard “Bud” Cleaver until the mid 80s when they split amicably. Together they raised three wonderful children The Late Kimberly Hope Cleaver Wilson, Brian Cleaver, and Patrick Cleaver.
In addition to Virginia Beach, Gilda lived in Charlotte, NC and retired from Bank of America in 2004, at which point she focused on spending time with family, returning to Virginia Beach and eventually to Hartwell, Georgia, home of her beloved niece and nephew Coleena and Bennie Bee, and brother-in-law Ben Bee.
Gilda was an outgoing, loving person who made friends wherever she went. She Loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and her favorite movies were the Rocky Movies, which she watched perennially. She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Gilda was a kind and generous parent and grandparent and will be sorely missed.
Gilda was preceded in death by her sisters Rosemary and Ruth Ann, and her Daughter Kimberly, and is survived by her sister Gloria of New Port Richey, FL, and her Brother Alphonse John of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by sons Brian (Cindy) of Richmond, VA and Patrick of Virginia Beach as well as grandchildren Drew, Taylor, Tara, Sam, Olivia, Sofia Rhiannon, Libby, and Mikey.
Memorial services will be held later at a date and location to be determined.
