Claude Evander “Jack” Cartee, age 87, of Anderson, SC, devoted husband to Grace Arflin Cartee since 1953, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021, at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born May 18, 1934, in Anderson, SC, he was raised by his loving late grandparents, Nathan Evander and Essie Cartee.
Jack was a graduate of Pendleton High School. He owned and operated Jack Cartee Wholesale, retiring in 2020. He was very dedicated to his work with The Shriners Masonic society for 60 years having proudly sponsored over 150 children to the Shriners Hospital for Children. He was a Hejaz Captain of the Guard, and served on the Executive Committee and Finance Committee. He was past Hejaz Provost Guard of the year, and Hejaz Southeastern Provost Guard of the year. He was a member of the Anderson Hiram Masonic Lodge, and the Anderson Shrine Club. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.
In addition to his loving wife, Grace, he is survived by his children, Teresa Cartee Threlkeld of Iva, SC, and son, Tony Steven Cartee (Hazel) of Anderson, SC; and one grandchild, Ansley Cartee Minor (Bo) of Anderson, SC.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 25, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Alvin Crooks officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
The family requires that all in attendance for the visitation as well as the funeral service please wear a mask.
The family will be at the home of Jack’s daughter, Teresa Cartee Threlkeld, 515 Leatherdale Rd., Iva, SC 29655.
