Mr. Kenneth Wayne Pilgrim, age 66, of Dewy Rose, Ga., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born on April 27, 1953 in Louisville, KY to the late Clarence Wesley Pilgrim, Jr., and Marcella Nauert Pilgrim. Kenneth recently retired from the United States Department of Agriculture where he served as a senior appraisal specialist. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture and he was a life-long Georgia Football Fan. Kenneth and Wanda are members of Sardis Baptist Church.
He is survived by; his wife, Wanda Fleming Pilgrim, children, Kelly Pilgrim (John) Cassidy of Ila, Ga., McKenzie Pilgrim (Stewart) Smith of Commerce, Ga., and Kenneth Lee (Alisa) Pilgrim of Bogart, Ga., siblings, Danny Pilgrim, Vianna Mathis, Anita Reese, Carolyn Powers, Ronnie Pilgrim, Angela Hammond and Marsha Smith, all of Thomson, Ga., Jim Pilgrim, Winder, Ga., and Melinda Bedgood of Pensacola, FL. Grandchildren, Logan, Reed and Seth Cassidy, Cole, Liam and Riah Smith and Jackson and Charleston Pilgrim. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Clarence Pilgrim III.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Kenneth Pilgrim will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at three o'clock from the Sardis Baptist Church Sanctuary in Hartwell. Dr. David Bowen will officiate. The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations of unwrapped toys which will be delivered to Children’s Hospitals.The body will lie in state at 2:30. Private burial will be at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the service will be: Matthew Brooks, Chas Dickenson, Camran Fleming, Matthew Guthas, Keith Hilley, Drew Pilgrim, Trapper Reese, Chad Shiflet and Levi Stanley.
The family will be at the home.
