Marjorie Congdon-Brent, of Hartwell, Georgia (formerly of Cuba, New York) passed away peacefully at home on December 13th, 2021.
She was born on February 10th, 1938, daughter of Don and Mabel (Shaffer) Kennedy. On June 17, 2003, she married William “Sam” Brent who predeceased her on September 23, 2019.
Marjorie was a graduate of Olean Business Institute and worked most of her career in finance and accounting.
To describe Marjorie as a “social butterfly” would be an understatement. “Party Marge” was always on the move and would light up every function that she’d walk in to, whether it was on the lake, on the town, or spending time with family and friends. She was involved in her grandchildren’s sports and school activities, and a diehard fan of the Buffalo Bills and Clemson Tigers. Marge was an avid bird watcher with the cardinal being her favorite. A believer in showing kindness to loved ones and strangers alike, she will be missed dearly.
Marjorie is survived by her children: Valerie (Peter) Collins, Renee (Joe McGrath) Congdon, Stephanie (Craig) Ingalls, Daphne (Joe) Congdon Castillo, and Matthew (Carrie) Congdon, step- children MJ (Susan) Brent, Jeannie George Lande, and Marsha Hewitt Custer, 18 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. Marjorie is also survived by 3 sisters, June (Jim) Patterson, Pat (Bob) Sweet and Bonnie Kennedy, numerous nieces and nephews and her special friend, Dick Napier. She was predeceased by her brother, Bob Kennedy.
Funeral services for Marjorie were held on Saturday, December 18th, at Coile and Hall in Hartwell, GA. An additional memorial service and burial will be held in Cuba, New York in the summer of 2022.
