Mollie Jan Vickery Spurlock, 51, of Waycross died Friday morning, July 26, 2024, at her residence after a short illness. She was born in Anderson, SC to Curtiss Vernon and Janet Stovall Vickery. Mollie was a graduate of Hart County High School and Georgia Southern University. Mollie was also an educator that touched the lives of many students in school systems across the state of Georgia, especially in Ware County. Mollie demonstrated the unconditional love of Christ by being a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her father, Curtiss Vernon Vickery.
Survivors include her husband of twenty-nine years, Harrison Allan “Sonny” Spurlock of Waycross; four children, Harrison Spurlock of Tampa, FL, Madelyn Tanner (husband Coleman) of Waycross, Hudson Spurlock of Colorado Springs, CO, and Riley Spurlock of Statesboro; her mother, Janet Stovall Vickery of Greer, SC; four siblings, Dane Vickery (wife Mylissa) of Greer, SC, Donna Nigro of Jackson, MS, Christi Balfour (husband Paul) of Springfield, MO, and Darlene Park (husband David) of Duluth, GA; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held Thursday afternoon, August 1, 2024, at 5 pm at Southside Baptist Church in Waycross. The family will receive friends after the service in the social hall. In addition, there will be a second service in Mollie’s hometown of Hartwell, GA on Saturday August 3rd, 2024, at 1pm at Cornerstone Baptist Church.
