Ralph E. Herren, 70, passed away Jan. 22, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens.
He was born Nov. 11, 1952, in Dekalb County to the late Frank Herren and Barbara L. Williams Herren. He was raised in Tucker and lived in Gwinnett County. He worked at Atlanta Gas Light Company for 26 years. He retired from Franklin County as road superintendent. He enjoyed watching his grandson, Zac, ride motorcycles, spending time with his grandchildren, racing and hunting. He was a friend to all and never met a stranger. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Burrell Herren; children, Cindy (Bob) Pope and Rachel (Wayne) Harper; stepchildren, Sean and Nathan Brown; siblings, Laurie Gosnell, Vickie Goss, Cathy Harrison and Amy Lewis; grandchildren, Zac Brown, Sace Leverett, Taylor Humphrey, Zoey Brown and Abigail Brown; great-grandchildren, Jonah Humphrey, Zaylee Allmon and three on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Coile and Hall Funeral Directors in Hartwell, with the Revs. Danny Mundy and John Phillips officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
Visitation will be held Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the service.
